Flexible working and Less Than Full Time (LTFT) training is well supported within Paediatrics, particularly in the South West. We trust that our links will help direct you through the application process, legislation surrounding LTFT working and logistics of continuing training part time.

 Return to Training

Aims for best practice on return to training LTFT.  After more than  3 months off for Mat leave, OOPE, Sick leave etc.  Sick leave,  also in conjunction with HR.  Meetings with Educational Supervisor


  1. Pre-absence meeting with ES-Aim for 1/12 prior to leave. Discuss keeping up to date, KIT days, other concerns/needs.  Complete form.
  2. Prior return-aim 6-10 weeks face to face before return- discuss training needs on return-and if a period of supervised training required (may realistically mean not on call for first week?)  Discuss learning needs and whether SLE’s might help/simulation/RTT courses/Step Up SIM/Induction/New guidelines/Working practices etc.  Complete form.
  3. Initial review on returning within 2/52.  Discuss any new identified learning needs.  Complete form- decide on next ES review
