The course aims to develop practical skills in child protection. The day begins with talks about professional responsibilities, the child protection process and the roles of the agencies. There will then be case-based small group discussions. In the afternoon we shall run scenarios with actors to put skills into practice. There will then be a simulated strategy meeting. Teaching and feedback will be provided by paediatricians, the police and social services. The course has been developed using the RCPCH Child Protection Companion 2013. It does not attempt to replace accredited courses but to provide an opportunity to develop and practice skills specific to child protection.
