Overview: A training programme jointly provided by the RCPCH and Obesity Services for Children and Adolescents (OSCA) Network Group to educate paediatricians on how to identify, assess and manage obesity in children and young people.

A faculty of paediatric specialists will provide delegates with a wealth of experience and knowledge in the field and will link the specific clinical scenario of obesity to the wider health lifestyle promotion tools for children and young people, such as the Healthy Child Programme and Adolescent Health Programme.

Audience: This course is aimed at senior trainee, SSASGs and newly qualified consultant paediatricians.

Programme: The two-day programme will include the key areas in the management of childhood obesity:

• care pathways between primary and secondary care (including services)

• obesity syndromes and genetics: identification and special management issues

• motivation and weight loss: assessing and enhancing motivation in obesity

• medical management: anti-obesity drugs and bariatric surgery
